What exactly is a mesh mod??

I see it every where on this site, but still have no idea what it is...

I have an HSa150 can I mesh mod that???

What does it do, what can it be done too, and why??

its wrapping mesh material around an impeller to improve the performance of the skimmer.

when you mod things, sometimes you end up trading off reliability for performance. manufacturers don't like to sell high performance pumps that aren't reliable at restarting.

Some are....the ATI Bubble Master's and the SWC Xtreme's are both using meshwheel Sicce PSK2500 pumps.

Typically, the mesh mod won't last for a long,long time as a standard needlewheel will. The mesh seems to start coming apart over a much shorter period of time, at least in my experience. However, IMHO, it is definitely worth the hassle of redoing the mesh it in 6 - 8 months for the much increased level of performance.
