Advice on my lighting set up please.
I have a 180 with 3 x 400 watt metal halides and 2 x 160 watt VHO's (super actinic R).
The left and right mh bulbs are 10k and the center 20k. I have been having a slight problem with my SPS turning green due to the fact that I was running the Actinic for the entire lighting schedule. Recently I have set my timers to now shut off after my mh turn on and to kick back on shortly before the mh turn off. What I was thinking of doing is changing all 3 mh to 20k's and switching my VHO's to 10k's. I want the great coloration of the 20k's and the VHO can be used for growth (and not greening up my SPS) I could even squeeze another VHO bulb in their if I needed to. Any comments, advice, sugestions? Thanks. |

i have a humilis thats doing the greening thing. its the only coral doing it and its weird, its just around the base where its encrusted. i don't think its the antinic lighting but rather the sps coloring up.

Actinics will enhance green tones and if overpowering the rest of the lights, could lead to stronger shades of green on some of the SPS.
I run 3x400 watt radiums 20k and 3x 5' URI Super actinics(no problem here with the green) |
