I have a 2.5 gal tank I have had set up for a few month, I have yet to do a water change on it and all is well. I use a samll office light that is only 13 watts and everything is doing great!

JMO, but I think a nano for a Xmas present is a bad idea, unless your dad knows how to care for one, or has SW already.

Nanos are harder to keep alive than larger tanks because of stability.

But if you insist, I think PC lighting will be enough.

I second Bri on the lighting, the corals you list will do just fine with PC lighting. My 12 gallon Aquapod is doing great with its stock lighting setup (27 watts daylight and 27 actinic). In fact so good that I had to take out all of the blue shrooms that were in there as they were taking over the zoa's.
