Homeowner's Insurance Question
Does homeowners insurance cover an aquarium flood or even an aquarium falling through a floor onto the hood of a brand new BMW in the garage below?
This hasnt happened to me, but I foresaw it in my slumber. Do you have to add flood coverage to protect yourself? I guess it really would be any different than a flooding washer of a plumbing rupture (minus the falling through the floor part).

Flood insurance has to do with natural disasters only. Home owners will probably cover it but I would read the terms on your policy to be sure it's not excluded.

They would probably cover it and then drop you. The claim would be entered in your CLUE report and you would have difficulty getting reasonably priced coverage in the future.

Talk with your agent, I know some do not cover water bed ruptures.

Insurance policies can be very differnet so I would definently ask your agent. Our insurance policy does cover an aquarium I made sure to ask that when we bought our house.

Your best bet would be to contact your Homeowner insurance's claims department to get the correct answer. It is going to be claims that will pay or denial a claim. Coverage maybe different in every states.

Thanks for everyone's input, I will give them a call on Monday just to be safe and add some coverage if need be.

Just call and ask. I would think they would cover you for damages but I don't think they will cover any live creatures.
