I say free, it was given to me because another reefer couldn't keep it, or I traded some other fish/coral that I didn't want/need, if all else fails, 10 bucks, lol.

In the beginning I cut the price in half or sometimes even less. My $70 radiant wrasse? Told my dad I got it for $30. Over the years I've been cutting off less and less from the original price. Now I just tell them the truth because at this point my parents agree with me that some fish ARE worth that much . It's like I've trained them, and it's great.

Expensive fish are fun, like the first time you pull out of the lot in a new luxury car. But then your mind is never at ease because you worry if someone will accidently scratch it in the parking lot with a grocery cart while you're picking up a quart of milk. "Oh no Mr. Crosshatch! Where did you get that scratch from? You need to be more careful when weaving in an out of those corals. It better not get infected and then you die. My CC bill with you on it hasn't even arrived yet. No die Mr. Crosshatch. No die!" If I bought a Gem Tang I probably couldn't sleep at night. And no doubt I'd start a thread "Gem Tang murdered by sixline wrasse with anti-social disorder."

Just picked up this mated pair of Lineatus wrasses from LFS for $320. The wife told me i had to check out this new fish she saw while she was picking up some Lyretail anthias for me. She talked me into going out in the snowstorm. She showed me the display where they were at, and i just laughed at her. She asked me what i was laughing at, they were my christmas present This the day after she was supposed to pick up a pair of Anthias, and she came home with 4 females and a male.

I think she's a keeper

Sorry for the crappy pics of the wrasses, the are in the grow out tank, and it's hard to get a good pic of them in there. They will go into the display in a couple weeks

I don't think I have ever paid more than $50 for any of my fish. I currently have a blue and sailfin tang, and a yellow goby.

captain bucket - that fish is nice and will be huge in no time

Not the best picture but it a yellow belly hippo
I did not directly pay for it, because it came with the tank. They are online however from $120 to $330.

The pair has been great. Zero nipping. Not aggressive, yet not bullied by my tangs either. Also, they are much more "rock hugging" than I expected for a plantivorous fish.
