Acanthastrea identification

I think this is an Acanthastrea Echinata, but not sure. I'm wondering what other people would ID it as.

Sorry it's not the best picture, but you can make out what it is. I just got it today, so it hasn't fully opened yet.

colpopphyllia natans is from the Carribean this was not collected there so I'm pretty sure it's not c. natans

I've been researching it and I don't think it's echinata (although thats what it was sold to me as)

I'm leaning towards Acanthastrea Hillae

ive got one identical to it and cant id it either. i originally thought it was favia, but the more pics i see, the more im leaning toward
a. hemprichii, a. faviaformis, or a. subechinata

Based on the pic of the skeleton, it looks like a. subechinata.

Jwalters103,

Acan doens't put out feeding tentacle more than 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch. Yours may be be some specie of favia/favites if the tentacles are too long. Acans tentacles are short and very uniform.

I am not sure, I just heard that some where. Its very possible thats not true. How about I say, it has bumps on the septa so its can be a member of the mussidae family. I have looked at it more and it lookes llike it might be a Goniastrea of some kind.

You can start looking here if you really want to find out what it is.

I tried to do a search of corals with the characteristics of Toothy or jagged septa, but it didnt show any results. I dont think that search works that well.

I've got one I cant identify too. It's not pimpley much at all definitly not as much as yours even, yet has the jagged septa that Acans do. Also it's tentacles usually reach out 1.5-3"

The search doesn't work at all. Its annoying, cos it wont even separate indo/pacific and atlantic.

I'm having the same proble ID'ing this coral. It has jagged septa as well, but meandering corallites with steep walls,Some Platygyra have jagged septa,so mines probably something in that genus.I always though that only the mussids have them but i guess some Faviids can have them to
