I loved the reef. They have some really nice coral growth going on. They also have 3 moorish idols, I am curiuos how long they have been in the system. My favorite is the jellyfish display. That was a very cool visual display...mesmerizing

If I recall correctly all their coral is fake.

I wonder if fish considered impossible to breed by hobbyists would readily reproduce in a system that large?

I know for a fact that the Georgia Aquarium does have a rather impressive collection of corals... however... most of which are either at a secondary location or on the "loop" upstairs. So, this presents a rather bad rub. To view such corals or display tanks, you need to do one of three things. Go with a school group, pay for the behind the scenes tour, or get a "friends/family tour." I am not sure if they still have the tanks, but I saw an incredible clump of mangroves growing in a shallow attachment to the big reef tank you see downstairs, as well as huge colonies of Xenia elongata and leathers up there. They also had incredible Montipora caps and Acros up there. In the "classroom," they also had this awesome system specifically for breeding catalina gobies.

This is coming from a good friend of mine who works in their reef department and gave me the most incredible pleasure of a behind the scenes tour in May 2006, including standing on the moveable bridge as the whale sharks passed underneath!

TO THE PERSON WHO WAS GOING TO STOP THERE ON A FLIGHT LAYOVER....
Buy tickets in advance! The Georgia Aquarium REGULARLY sells out of tickets for different entry times throughout the day. You can only enter the aquarium after your ticket's entrypoint. So, although you mighty arrive early in the morning, if you get stuck with a 2:00 ticket, your kind of s.o.l.
