10.2 is not the total tank volume. It is the display volume. Also, your calculations, do not calculate for the thickness of the acrylic.

Sorry guys, just saw these posts. I did sell the tank but it was not due to it being a pain. It was lack of funds and finishing my basement that caused the sale. I am once again tank less until the basement is finished but I plan to do another tank based on this same concept! The only change I would make to the tank from it's original plan is to have a cross brace installed as 4ft is too far to span without one. Other than that, it was by far my favorite tank to have and was certainly an attention grabber to anyone who walked into the room.

Sorry to hear that you sold the tank. It's really awesome love that it made it look like a much bigger tank.I would build a small cover for the shelf so you don't see the brackets and you would have a small area for the power strip, if your going to put it back on the same kind of shelf when you do the next one

I've LOVED this tank since I first saw it and had to get into NANO's
I had a 6.6g that was 23 inches long and very shallow. So this tank just blew me away!I've always loved the long/shallow look ever since I owned a 120 long-a 6 footer!

Anyhow how much would a tank like this run if you were to build it for me?

Seriously let me know.

Thanks

yep pretty good - NTOTY in my opinion, considering most of the rest of us just buy an OTS system and plug it in.

Kudos!!

Hi Calvin, I'm a long time fan of your tank. I always had a thing for long and shallow tanks. I think I'm ready for the All-in-one concept, after years of going ghetto with wires and tube everywhere.

Every six months or so I have this dream of building a 8' long tank, very shallow 6-8". I might want to give it a try next spring (too cold to open windows for the silicone smell). I don't think my skills and tools are adequate for an acrylic tank so I'll be looking for glass instead.

Thanks for the ideas
