How often Do you Feed your Fishes?
I feed them 3x a day. How about you? Oh is it possible to feed fishes every other day?

IMO, 3 time a day is excessive, depending on the type of fish, clean up crew and filtration. I normally feed once a day or even every two days and the fish are fine.

Twice daily. 1 am, 1 pm feeding. With a dwarf angel in a reef, anything less is a gaurantee of disaster IMHO..

2x daily 9:30 am and 7:30 pm. I have anthias, chromis and Tangs. They get a mixture of New Specturm Pellets & Cyclops or Daphnia, with added Brine or Mysis, and Sea Veggie Flakes or spinach.
I alternate days between VitaChem, Selecon, and Garlic Extreme. I also keep a strip of nori on a clip.

Depends...but usually I try to stick to once a day feedings. It's hard, though, cause every time I walk by the tank, ALL of them swim towards me as if to say..."FEED US, FEED US!!"

I feed small amounts 2-5 times a day. It seems a little excessive, and maybe it is, but I try to make sure they are small feeding. But since starting this little routine I got my first HA on my rocks! I don't mind, it isn't near my corals or very thick, and my jawfish love me fr it. I figure it the least I can do, where in the wild they'd be feeding most of the day on planktonic foods, so its probably more natural to feed several small meals than 1-2 big ones.

2-4x's a day
It's only excessive if you have it polluting your tank which can happen with 1 meal a day. |

I usually just feed once in the morning.

Multiple times per day. Only what they will eat in 30-60 seconds each time. *Nothing* hits the floor.

I feed 5 to 7 times a day. in fact about every time I walk by the tank. Pellets, frozen, nori 4xs alone. water quality is still great. Lots of skimming.

I feed daily. At least it averages to daily. Some days I don't feed and most days I feed nori, then on top of nori I feed an occasional second time a day with some frozen foods. I also feed my LPS 3x a week on top of my fish feeding

I feed small amounts 3 or 4 times a day. Morning will be a bit of flake fed by hand to the fish. Nearly all is eaten by the fish and this keeps them happy while I'm at work. Then they'll get some mysis when I get home and then a cube of Prime Reef or Formula 1 before lights out. This gives the inverts something to eat after the lights go out. I also hand feed my corals and anemones at night 3 to 4 times per week. They get a mix of everything.

Personally, I HATE when I see people fish and they are emaciated and thin. You NEVER see fish like that in the ocean. They are always very fat and robust. As this is my prefernce, I feed very heavily, and very frequently (as I have a large fish load), but also export very heavily.
Between 7 AM and 6PM, they get flake 4X, pellets twice, and every day or two- nori. At around 7PM, I feed frozen (mysis, formula cubes, krill, squid, emerald entree, etc). no one will ever accuse my fish of being unhealthy. I never did understand how people can be SO proud of their wonderful colorful corals, and have these skeletal fish barely eeking around the tank. Its a disgrace to me. Just my opinion.

jmaneyapanda I agree. Even with heavy feeding it can be hard to put the kind of weight on them that some fish carry in the Ocean. Such as Yellow Tangs. They just don't seem to get fat easily.

I just grip a small amount of flakes and feed several times a day, one cap of microvert every other day. My fish are fat!!!
Sometimes I go to this fast food store. They have a big softies tank there with a few tangs and small fish. They look so skinny. The blue tang is even showing all the bones on the sides. So I just open the stand to grab some flakes in there and feed them every time I go there. The employees there don't even care for the tank. It's sad to be fishes in that tank. |
