Would this lime work?

SLAKED LIME

CaO + MgO = % 85

MgO = % 1,5

SO3 = % 0,8

CO2 = % 5

Element that cant dissolve in acid + SiO2 = % 1

Metal Oxides (R2O3) = % 0,5

Moisture = % 0,2

Top of 630 micron screen = % 0

Top of 90 micron screen = %5

Density = 460 g/l

Workable = 15

There are some other slaked and quick limes here but this is the only one with stats on it.

Nothing listed there is bad, but that might not prove it is OK. Does it give a grade? What brand is it?

Dear Randy,
Thanks for the reply.
It doesnt have a grade and its a Turkish brand (as I live in Turkey).
I think this is standard in Turkey because every Turkish website I look for analysis of slaked lime gives the same datas. These limes are sold for construction business mainly.

I will either use Seachem Kalkwasser or this product but I would ofcourse like to give a try to this one first as its cheaper. Is there anyway I can test if it is okay to use? Like using it in an empty tank and test ca, mg, ph, alk before and after the use. Or is this lime may not be appropriate because of other reasons?

Lastly, should I look for slaked lime or quick lime?

The only way to really know if it is suitable, short of chemical testing that will likely cost more than the savings, is just to try it and see. Be sure to use settled limewtaer, if possible, as many concerning impurities will settle out. I discuss that effect here:
