Are you sure that's not a pulsing xenia? I am not aware of a pulsing sinularia.

Tell them that they are very common and usually sell for no more than $10

it's not xenia, it's definately some sort of sinularia. they want $100 for it. And it's a frag that someone brought in, the polyps actually move in and out of the leather.

This pulsing leather does exist.I have not been able to locate any info about it online or in various books.I have had a colony for about 9 months which is showing great growth. The origin of my colony was Fiji.It has a steady 24/7 pulse as you will see in the movie link below. The movie was shot with ALL tank flow cut.The slight water movement is just the wake from my 8" naso.I have made 2 frags so far for close friends. Both frags are still pulsing away and are growing well.My closest GUESS on the species of mine is S. mollis but the pulse throws me.The S. mollis can be seen on page 211 of TRA vol two for those of you who have this book handy. That will give you an idea of the shape of the colonyI would be very interested to hear from others who have this coral.

clamman... If I were you I would definately drop the cash and pick it up.You will kick yourself if you don't.

Here is a link to a short movie of my colony.View it in both regular and full screen mode if you are using windows media player. **WARNING** to you 56k users. It's a long dl but well worth the wait

swg,

That is really impressive. I must say that if you had not provided that video, I would have indeed thought that we were discussing xenia.

At first I thought that I was just witnessing the current moving the polyps, but you can in fact see the individual polyps pulsing. Wow!

ADRON,

I can't really trade atm since it would take a can opener and an act of God to fit another coral in my 180.Got any cool herps to trade? . I have a list of people a mile long that would like frags.I will be starting a few colonies to grow out so I don't keep hacking at the mother colony. It is one of my favorite pieces.I also know the importance of spreading it around to insure it's future. You are welcome to drop me an e-mail from time to time and see what the frag situation is.

I have it and they do pulse. Adam (RC Member ) has it and if you live close to Sharon, PA then the lFS must've gotten it from him.

I went downstairs & fed some DS's & mine did pulse after a few minutes. It was a very slow pulse. About once a minute. Of course it came from clarkyclown, who got it from Adam so ...

Luckily I got my frag for free and not $100.

Hey NYXLL would you be willing to frag me a piece? I have a very rare green polyped sarcophyton that I would be willing to frag for you in exchange. Oh and btw I did pay 100 bucks for it (including shippiing) I could send you a picture if I had your email

Hi All,

I was not able to run the video clip but I have a pulsing leather(Sinularia?). Adam and I have talked about it. Mine is light beige to a whitish color. Each polyp retracts and them goes back out independant from the others. I have sold a few frags at local swap meets. The whole coral will close up at times and fold in on itself like you would close your fist. Really a cool coral.

I can second the fact that it does exist. Got a piece of it from Zooqi in my tank... though she doesn't seem to like my lights, or flow, or something Mo.. can't get it to pulse. I saw it pulse when you gave it to me, but haven't since oh well, at least it's growing!
And the video link appears to not be working?

It is still a tad small to hack frags off but if you can make it to the frag swap in Vermilion OH in February I can possibly bring you some. It would be a 5 hour ride each way for you though, its almost 3 for me. If you want to email me a pic click on my email button above my post

Here is a pic of my pulsing sinulara frag
