lighting question

i just bought a coralife 48" 260 watt lighting system and was wondering what kind of corals i could keep under it and also how long should i keep the daybulbs on which are 10k and how long should i keep the actinic bulbs on thanks .

if it is for the 55 gal. you can keep softies and most LPS corals. maybe a few non light demanding SPS corals also. as for lighting times i would go with 10 to 12 hours lighting schedual. like this or what ever times you want them on.

8am - actinic bulbs on
9am - all bulbs on
7pm - day bulbs off
8pm - actinic bulbs off

so run your actinics on for the ammount of time you want your lights on and your daylight bulbs on an hour after your atanic bulbs and turn them off an hour before your actinics go off so you will get dawn/dusk effect

With those lights you can keep most all soft corals and some LPS. If your rockwork goes up high enough maybe even some sps but I would research them real well before trying. As Kau has showed the schedule he listed works well, reguardless of times, you can set the times around your schedule!
