Clavularia are easy to keep, IME.
They succumb easily to my scissors, though.

I suspect a rapid change in alk levels did my green ones in. In the evening they were looking great. The next morning I dosed the tank with 2 tbsp of baking soda and by the next evening they were looking distressed.

The odd thing is that I have 3 other types of clav that were not effected.

PaulB, I don't think I was very clear. I used to have four types but now only have 3 healthy colonies and one dying one.

1) pinkish all around with Orange stripes on the "petal"
2) pinkish all around with Green stripes on the petal - very feathery.
2) pinkish all around with Green stripes on the "petal"
3) pinkish all around with Green stripes on the "Petal" and Green centers.

#3 look like they are dying. I have 6 polyps that turned black at the base and the polyps don't expand anymore. Every once in a while I see an attempt at expansion (evident by a half expanded polyp).

I'd love to find some true green clavs.

I have these. The picture is kinda blurry, but the cloves have a pink flesh and a green stems. I also have another kind that the whole body has a light green tinge to it.

Not sure if you were including vendor sites, but I see cultured clavs fairly regularly at Farms of the Sea: http://www.farms-of-thesea.com/catal...oft+Coral.html

I just received some individual polyps, I'll be culturing them as soon as they grow out.

adness (they still have some left). They are doing great, they are spreading down the LR. I'll post pics as soon as the lights go one.

Can we clarify something here? I have two strains of Clavularia; one that's a kind of gray/purple throughout its "cloves" and the other is like Lyzann describes as being basically a pink(ish gray) with bright green centers extending a bit into the cloves "arms." I've seen the latter kind with varying brightness in the green centers going from green to intense neon green. First of all are the ones that have the green all the same but show degrees of intensity depending on the light that they're in? And, are there any straigns of Clavularia other than the ones I've mentioned here? What do you figure? (IF the answer to the second question is yes, all you're doing is making me go out on another Clavularia hunt.)

Anyone have a good link to the care of Clavularia? I really like them, but i am having some problems with them.
I purchased a smaller frag (20 polyps) some weeks ago and now am down to one polyp. My LPS, shrooms, leathers and clams are doing well. GSP and xenia have faired poorly as well in the past. I no longer have either. PH is balanced and using 2 part with alk on the slightly on the high side.

I have recently began doseing and testing Iodine. Though i think it is causing some small diatom blooms.
