I wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like the tank is pretty new, so diatoms are common, and should lessen as your tank matures.

I've left my lights on for much longer by mistake, corals get a little grumpy, and I certainly wouldn't make a habit of it, but there shouldn't be any long term problems from it.

12 hours is a typical photoperiod. You can leave the lights off for a couple days if you want, but new tanks tend to get the algae blooms, regardless. I'd just go back to whatever your normal photoperiod is and ride it out.

Keep up with your water changes. Turning the lights off for a couple off days will slow the diatoms maybe even rid of them.
Diatoms is normal for a young tank. They will go away soon and if you maintain your system they will be kept in check.
I get blooms when I change my lights but it goes away within a week with out water changes.

The diatoms are normal for starting up a new tank. I believe no harm done for the 12.5 photperiod you experienced. As stated in some of the threads above, a 12 hour photo-period is normal for most tanks, mine included.

It will be fine, don't worry about it. Did I read correctly that you have 1 turbo snail in a 117 gallon tank?

j.k. but i do only have one and a clown clarkii. im on the search for some items this week at the LFS. the turbo's and other fish really dont seem to be any cheaper online i see. went to live aquria and their prices are about the same as some of the good deals around here.

what kind of hermits and or other crabs should i be looking at?
