I use Gen-X CRM media in my calcium reactor and I use the calibration fluids in the pouches for my pH probes.

I use ARM media in my reactor very good stuff. You really only need the 7.01 because you are using the high side of the ph. I also use the pouch they are cheap and I get a new one each time. Of course who knows how long they sit before I buy them. : )

I was using Shuran media, but can't find it anymore, so I just switched to the larger size ARM, similar looking to Shuran, just a little smaller. So far so good. As for cal solution, I use the pouches. As to which ones, it depends if yopu are using to measure your calcium reactor effluent (use 4 and 7) or your tank water (use 7 and 10).

For calibrating a ph meter always at least use two points for reference. This helps in determining if your slope of your meter is good. If you can't calibrate your meter it is a good sign to replace the probe.

I use gen X, and I agree with the others. You cannot correctly calibrate a pH meter without a slope. You were correct to order the 4 and 7 calibration fluid.

FWIW I've calibrated my probe with both 4/7 and 7/10. Reading were virtually identical.

I use ARM in my reactor. Works well. Can be tricky at first when you are dialing in your reactor for the first time. It was my first time using a reactor, so I turned the media to mush a few times with too low a pH.
