coral beauty dwarf angel reef safe?

Is anyone successfully keeping a coral beauty angel in a
reef tank? they're such a pretty fish, but I've heard mixed
things about them. ..

I had a coral beauty in a reef tank for about a year with no problems. In all actuality however, it truly comes down to the personality of the fish. Some people have had no problems, where others have had them nip at corals.

Best of luck.

So far I haven't had any losses with mine.
I have soft, lps, sps in the tank.
He does nip at things when passing by he will just do a quick peck on the clam or zoo.
It doesn't appear to do any damage. it just causes the clam to retract a little.

My only complaint is he will hound any new fish introduced in to the tank. But eventually it subsides.

Thanks, that makes me feel better about giving one a try!

Are they very shy fish? I usually find them in relatively bare
tanks at the LFS, but I recently saw one in a tank with lots of
live rock (like mine) and the whole time I was watching the tank
he was swimming inside the rockwork.

I've had my cb for about 5yrs. and he doesn't nip at any of my corals.
I don't find him shy at all. He's always out and about.

I've had one for about 9 months, and find the same as Skippy2. They are beautiful fish.

I had one for about 9 months. For the first few months he was a model citizen. After that, he started nipping almost every coral in my tank. I had to tear the tank apart just to catch him. That was a real pain!!!

I had the same experience as BWine, I was happy to get the fish out and swore I'll never have one again.

Mine will nip my feather duster on a regular basis but other than that I love it. It's fun to discover all the hiding places within your rocks by watching it swim in and out of the rocks, not shy at all! I recommend one.

I had the same problem with the feather duster. Mine waited until night and then killed it. Other than that he is great. Doesn’t nip at anything (softie, lps). Like others have said he loves to zip in and out of rocks all the time. The only time he stops is when sleeping or I have my hand in the tank.

My coral beauty doesn't nip at anything except the lone acro every once in a while. I've heard some like the taste of open brain. They are shy at first but will soon be swimming around with no prob.

No they are not "reef safe". But... they have a pretty good track record in the reef. Kinda like the copperband butterfly. There is about a 10% risk with them in a reef.

Almost all angels are "mean" like has been stated above. They usually subside after a few days of tarment, there very territorial to fish that have the same body style. My rock beauty is a beast with any introduction of a new fish. He see's them all as threats
