best way to mount seios

Hello
I have recently added 2 seios to my tank and would like to know which way to mount them. I have mostly seen this type of pump mounted horizontal pointing out like a pistol. I also have the option of mounting them vertical and have them flow out the 90 degree outlet section of the pump. Will one method produce better flow then the other?
Thanks
Jeff

Most people mount them like the Tunze. I bought the supergrip magnet mounts from premium aquatics, and they make mounting soooooo much easier. They are defintley worth the piece of mind that your seio wont fall off its mount and empty your tank on to the floor.

It is the same flow rate. The open "pistol" way is more spread out though. The 90 degree way is more of a direct stream.

I feel that the vertical mounting has a cleaner look in the tank. What is the goal in setting these up in the way of current in the tank? Right now i have one in each rear corner pointed at the front center of the glass. The coverage seems pretty good. My torch is getting hit alittle hard. I will keep an eye on it to watch how well it is expanding the next couple of days.

I have mine mounted like a Tunze and it works great. I was told using the 90 degree fitting seriously limits the flow of the pump. Makes sense if the flow is re-directed before it gets into the tank.

Tunze style here also. I'm BB so mine just sit on the bottom of the tank in the front and I have two of them pointed down in the back.

If you mount it vertically you are going to be restricting flow by design. Tunze style has intakes on the sides then gets shot straight out. The vertical mounting has more plastic restricting the intake, as well as an elbow restricting the out take.

I have one, but don't know how to make it run like a Tunze. I also lost my instructions. I'm afraid to break the thing if I tinker....
