Actually, there are several tanks here that are BB. Look closely After a tank has been BB for a few months, so much grows int he bottom that you don't even see the BB anymore.

That is an awesome softie tank. I would love to see a video of it so we could see the movement of the corals.

If I remember correctly, that tank was "Posed" with many artificially colored corals with little or no long term chance of survival.
Spectactular - yes, realistic - no.

AcroSteve,
I don't believe thats a posed tank. In the another thread where that was posted someone said the same thing and another reefer gave the specifics on the tank. Paul

The bright orange and pink corals are aphotosynthetic, either Dendronephthya or Scleronephthya.

Yea, I don't see what couldn't be real in the tank.
Mabey it would be hard to maintain a few of the corals in there, but it can be done.

some corals in the tank dont appear on the reflection on the left pane. i think the tank is real and so are most of the corals.

kimoyo, could you post the link to that thread. This is getting a bit off topic for this thread. IMO, the tank does not look 100% "real". You cannot see a reflection of the large umbrella. I also see large xenia heads that are surrounded by and being touched by many anemones. This stuff doesn't "jive" in my book.

Its just the angle of reflection. Look at the reflection at the top with the ripples, heres a better pic.
And the company that owns that tank is C.P.Farm, they grow corals in the tank from what was said in the other thread. Travis - I lost all my subscriptions a few months back so I don't have the thread anymore. Paul

The reflection is absolutely correct.
This is still the best looking tank in the world IMO. Softies are just as beautyful as the hard corals so deal with it. It seems like there is quite a good growth in the gorals so it does not look like this is a posed tank, but there is some macroalgae in there and it looks pretty too.

Lovely, but long-term viable? I dunno, but I'd like to see some time-lapse shots to demonstrate the longevity.

Actually, if we want to get really technical this thread is for sps dominated tanks so the softie tank is off topic, but I'm not complaining about that one as it is a beatiful tank. |

The tank from CPFARM receives water from the ocean, is not a closed system, thats why they keep those corals.
