RO/DI water with calcium?
I have a 50 gallon plastic drum that I'm going to store my RO/DI water in. I was wondering, if I fill the bottom of the drum with about 5" - 10" of aragonite sand, will the low pH of the R/O water melt some of the calcium? Would it hurt to add a little white vinegar to the 50 gallon drum? I would like to add R/O water that had a little calcium in it if I could, without a calcium reactor. Of course I'll have a powerhead circulating the water too, maybe pointing the flow toward the sand.

Only an insignificant amount of calcium carbonate will dissolve:

The alkalinity within your salt mixture will compensate for the low PH of the RO water .. just make sure when your making SW you give it adequate time to thoroughly dissolve and there is sufficient air exchange for the alkalinity to restore normal PH.

Why not use lime / calcium hydroxide?
