How is magnesium being measured, and what is the rate at which it's dropping? What's being dosed?

Is it possible to have percipitated a lot of CaCo3, possibly in the gravel, while having a low Mg level. Then as you start adding magnesium back to the tank it's reacting in such a way to remove large amounts from solution.

Are you using SeaChem reef salts?

I had a lot of problems with my magnesium levels when I used to use Seachem reef. They may have fixed with the formula since then but I had two big buckets in a row that were testing in the 900 - 1000 range pretty consistently. (It's always possible that they were part of the same bad batch though I suppose.)

Yes they are better now. I'm testing between 1350 and 1400 ppm magnesium at 1.0264 (35ppt)
You may be mixing lean. |
