Ha! Rocky Mountain Toadstool--- very funny but true! I moved to the Denver area from LA last September and was blown away by all the green toadstools for sale-- never saw one of them in the aquarium capital of LA. On the other hand, Zoas that sell for $10 in LA are $80 here...
Who'd have thought Colorado would be "the source" for a coral....anyway, here's one of my Rocky Mountain Toadstool clones: |

I got a Tyree, smaller than a dime for $70, about a month and a half ago, it is just now used to my lighting and is starting to extend its polyps, what kind of lighting and placment do you have them under.

This green polyp leather thing is the biggest joke I have ever seen. This Tyree business is such a sham. Anyone that pays more than $10 for one of these just flat out doesn't know what they are doing. Someone tells you its a limited edition and you jump all over it, I have seen countless green polyp leathers of the years for sale all over and have seen this stupid Tyree LE leather popup in the past year, what a joke. I have some LE pink xenia if anyone is interested for $100 a frag.....

i agree with you and the "LE tyree" stuff buy you have to understand that different corals command different prices in different cities/states. i personally paid 30 bucks for my toadstool. i have seen them online for 70 bucks and the local fish store for about the same, and neither said "LE tyree toadstool" just neon green toadstool. i have talked to quite a few people in cali that would never pay the prices i've paid for some stuff bc its like xenia where they are at.

May I ask, what exactly is this 'Tyree brand' if you will? So ORA is Oceans Reefs Aquariums... Then what is Tyree? I know a lot of people here say price, but I was curious about the origin of the nomenclature. Is it an individual / certain strain of the leather? Or is it something else? Thanks - just curious and interested...

Steve Tyree is a well known aquarist guy who has propagated a green polyp toadstool that has made it's way into the market. Some people say it's a different clone than other green polyp toadstools. In my opinion, the Tyrees are not different or fantastic enough to justify the often inflated price.
