I really don't like to sell my polyps. Got anything good to trade? Anyone know any special tips on fragging these? I hear they don't frag well. I swear, it took mine 2 months to open--stayed folded in half that long!

i guess that would depend on what you considered good... I've got quite a few different zoas and palys. The nicest ones I have are pink with long stems and some cany apple pink zoos (only about 7 heads atm). I also have some orange mouthed, green centers with lighter green/brownish skirt zoos. Don't have any sps big enough to frag. I should have some frogspawn buds within the next month. I also have some trumpets.

Here is a link to my photobucket with my most recent tank shots... they are about a month old now. http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a320/kawicivic/

I am in no hurry so if you are not feeling brave enough to frag yet then no rush... I probably wont be in the chicago area since I work retail (which means like one day off between now and christmas).

the pinks have a neon green mouth with bright pink everything else... there wasnt a good picture of them on the site i sent you. They are a brighter pink than both the pink palys that are on the site. I got them from fast57(i think this is correct) at the swap in october. Had 3 heads but one disconnected itself from the super glue and now have like 7, so growth has been picking up with them.

Thanks for the pics & all but I hear that PD don't respond well to normal fragging, so I thought there might be a special trick to them. There is a zoa forum I can go to & ask too.

PD need sand to build their bodies. Most people frag them and put them on racks and they just dont do well. Place frag on sand bed and let the sand touch the bodies of the PD or nuclear green paly. They use sand and deterious to build their bodies.

I know Jenny I am going to have time really soon. I have been traveling to South America for a few days here and there for work. Yeah when I used to have them I noticed they did better using this method. But I got rid of them since my main focus is colored sticks.

mbuna- arent the purples and teh nuclears called proto palys? I believe that is waht the palys that use sand are called. Would these sorts of palys do better on the sandbed vs. on rockwork? Also how can you tell a proto paly from a regular paly?
