acro tissue´s regeneration

I have buy a acropora the last week, and it have died 2/3 up body´s tissues.(It,s white now)
My others acros and sps is good.
Can will my acro regenerate his tissues, or is better that i cut his part died?

If the white area is exposed to the light, the tissue may well regrow over it. But if the dead area is at the botom of the colony and shaded, IMO more than likely it won't regrow over this area, and fragging above the dead tissue would be the best bet.
