Best way to remove zoos from SPS tank??
Dopes anyone have a suggestion on the best way to remove zoos from my rock, they are spreading; and before tehy are extremely out of control, which I can defintely see happening, how can I get rid of them? Is there any natural predator of zoo's that won't touch SPS, or should I just cover them up with 2 part epoxy? Any other ideas??
Thanks, Dave |

add an emperor angel, or find someone who is trying to keep zo's that has a sundial snail or sea spider problem

Would an emporer angel bother any of my SPS when it gets rid of the zoos? Would finding a sea spider or sundial snail be a better option?

I would not add an angel to a reef tank. Have you tried elbow grease?

I used a sundial snail and it helped control the spread but could not eat them quick enough. Eventually I removed the rock they were on.

I got a Blue Stripped Rabbit. It cleared out all my zoos in two weeks. I did not have any, but understand that it will eat shrooms too.
It did sample my trumpet corals, but did not take a liking to them. It now lives peacefully with all my LPS, SPS, clams and anems and trims the zoos as they unbelievably continue to emerge from the live rock they once covered.

I never had a problem with zoas and acros living together.

I also have a mixed tank. I will soon be pulling out the rest of my leathers but the zoo's will be staying. No problem here.
There is a nudibranch that will also eat zoo's not sure of the name though.

No, the acros seem to win in that battle. As they base out and grow, the zoas move with them.
Mushrooms are another story though, they will kill acros slowly and in almost all situations. There is something toxic in mushrooms that really over powers acros. Those are pics of my old tank atzak, unfortunately I lost 100% of my acros on my tank upgrade 3 months ago. I just wanted to post some pics of both acros and zoas living together with no harm done.

Get a Red-Sea Regal angel. They're known to be SPS-friendly. Watch her polish out the zoos, leaving you with bare patch of rocks within days.

This guy eats zoos and shrooms. When I first introduced him he did nibble at my trumpet corals, but did not do any real damage, left my favias alone. And now , after a couple of months it is a great citizen and I am very happy with its tank cleaning efforts.
