black spots on acro
just a quick question about an acro that I have had for about a month now it has been growing well with a very thick base also seems that the color has been improving. In the last two days I have noticed black dots where it seems the new polyps should be, is this normal or is there something wrong it.
Parameters ammonia, nitrite, nitrate 0 ph 8.1 temp 80 alk 5 meq/L cal 420 mag 1250 flow 50x lighting 150 w over a 10 gallon acro is @7in from light Thanks for your response I can take a picture soon but have to wait for lights off since my camera s$%# adalon

Looks fine to me, it looks like the polyps are retracted.

Could they just be new corallites starting to grow? I can't make out the pic. well enough.

I noticed lots of black spots on one of my acros after a tank move. I hadn't seen my tank for about a week prior to the move, and didn't expect things too closely until after it.
I don't know if the black dots were from stress, or new growth, but they were right on the polyps just like your pics. They cleared up in a few days. |
