For the cooling of the lights, just spend $100 on a dayton blower and duct it through all your lights. Easy solution.

I don't see hwo your going to be profitable paying to light multiple 1000 watt bulbs 12 hours a day, but good luck regardless.

TheLivingReef - Do you mean you are losing color because you dont get enough light from the 400's? Why dont you lower them, heat issues? Sweet setup by the way.

I did not move them closer because the edges of the tub would get no light.

mark All the lights will run about 195 dollars a month in power if I ran them 12 hours a day. I will only run the lights about 8. so I will pay about 150.00 in power. the pumpS and other electrical equment will be about 50.00. I have one tub up right now. I have had it with the 1000 watt for 2 and 1/2 weeks and have sold ALOT . I am not worried about cost like most people. I think that is alot of reefers problems. There is very little arugement about what is best, the arugement is wether it is worth the money.

just some food for thought.

So True! Money is the biggest limiting factor.

I've seen some people who are not actually that skilled have a good reef simply because they got a big cheque book and were well advised and set up right with all the best gear, whereas others who know a lot struggling with not so good equipment because of cost.

Here is some more work done.

the nelsen reactor is a MRC and the Ca reactor is also. at the point in time I am not impressed with the MRC Nelsen reactor. Ca reactor is well made.

Awesome. I can't wait to come by again. Maybe the new prop system will be a good excuse for another meeting.

Is that all in the front of the shop?

- cooling : The Lights will be in a closed system that will take air from the outside and cool the lights off, then the air is exits outside. I have not got this part of the system up but maybe by the end of nov. I will have it up and working.

-Flow I have a 10,000 gallon per hour pump that I can control. I can move the incoming flow as needed. I used 2 in pipe so I could get volume and not pressure.

Yep

That is funny you asked, The first few weeks of having the light on the tank algea eveywear. I was starting to think it was a bad idea to use 1000 watt. So I took everything out a scrubed that alega off the sides. It never came back, the tanks off to the side that get a casting of light grows some algea but not alot. I guess the CA reactor that put on the tank helped out alot.
