Is there any way to run an ASM G3 externaly?

Like the title says. My sump is too small for the skimmer to fit in. Could I just have the pump in the sump, and then run pipe to the skimmer, and pipe back to the sump from the top of the standpipe thing?

Thanks

Mine is not totaly water tight at any of the seals (The uniseal or or o-rings at the cone and collection cup). From what i've read none of the ASM's are watertight.

I would suggest not to go external with the ASM skimmers. Not only are the uniseal connecting the pump not tight, the o-rings holding the skimmer cup and cone also do not seal well. I'm pretty sure you have to go internal.

Ok, I think I'm going to get a bigger sump anyway.

Thanks
