you don't need city gas as to say... what wrong with propane?? ( LP .. one 100lb tank) you do the call service that you are use to , to fill it... stove and be LP, dryer, and so many other things.. you just need to convert it.. ( it's a kit that consist of new orifices and spring... but i don't think a regular person can buy it)... out where i'm living the HD and LOWE's sell the stove and whatnots converted already for LP... as for water heater.. ever thought about a instant heat heater?? no... not them small one that heats like 1 gal under the sink for tea... they are bigger units that mount on the wall... the work kinda like a gas furnace.. the idea behind it is that not like a typical WH... that will take gas,oil or electric whether you are using it on not to keep and maintain a constant heat of i think 120 degrees F... the wall mount unit only heats up what you actually use...
i myself have not used or know personally anyone that uses this unit but it seem to be good stuff... ohh and awesome thing just came to mind about the LP gas.... you can have a line ran to you backyard via galvanized pipe or whatnots and have a quick connect attachment at the end... then when you need/feel like BBQ, you just grab the quick connect, attach to the line and your grillin away... ( seen it on a vid when i got certified on a flexible gas line called gastite.. it's sweet!!! ) YzGyz
