baserock cycle?

well i just filled my tank with about 70 lbs of base rock and about 30 lbs of live rock

15lbs of the live rock in the tank
and 15 in the wetdry chamber


.. now my ammonia is showing up at 0 so are trites and trate..

skimmer is pulling some nasty sludge out

btw its only been 2 days since set up ...

any ideas?

on another note im running my tank without a canopy ... only moonlights are on right now ... in the wetdry i have a mag 7 and a sealife skimmer ... but the tank is runnign at 81 without the lights on


... my tank is open from the front and back and top it gets plenty of air .. any ideas?

I put mine in a bucket with FW for 3 week to cycle it and then add it to the main tank. Best way to prevent a nitrate spike in the main tank. I've never had a problem with a nitrate increase before when adding baserock.
