Thanks Darren
here is another pic that will hopefully allow you to see them better. they are more like orange/ light brown color with lime green mouths and they spread very fast. they also have a very powerful sting, I once dropped a sps frag I was trying to place in the rockwork on them and needless to say that was it for the frag. always wondered what type of mushrooms they were as they did not look like my others. thanks Henry

I'd have to say that they are ricordias. ricordias will dominate in a stinging battle againsts SPS... I lost a nice purple rim cap to my blue ricordias about two weeks ago.

Yes, they are Ricordea Yuma and pack a nice sting that SPS are especially sensitive to!
They will appreciate some meaty foods like mysis or brine shrimp, sometimes they will fold up over it if you don't have fish that grab it first. Enjoy! Darren Walker Last edited by Anemone; 06/08/2003 at 06:35 PM. |

I am not convinced it is Ricordea yuma:
1. Ricordea do not multiply THAT fast, or they would not be that expensive 2. The tentacles seem rather too long and odd shape for a typical Ricordea yuma. |

Wow this is going to be my fav thread too. Anyone want to trade? I got a solid neon green ricordia that I can trade. I'm looking for rare ricordia morphs or rare sps. If anyone is interested email me at isseym328it@aol.com and I can send a pic. Thanks!
Darren the blue ricordia rock is doing awsome in my tank =) |

I believe it is a yuma based on the oral disk. Yume in low light stretch thier polyps out to get light. The oral disk is elevated and surrounded by a ring of polyps. It is Yuma.

Henry,
You should put those ricordias closer to the light... their bubbles will fatten up and you might be suprised with a color change (I bought some ricordias that were brown at the LFS and when I gave them good light they got a red rim, and green and white bubbles) -Max |

Thanks guys for the tips
I will give it a try and move them up slowly they are in a tank that is 125 gallons and is lit by 3 x 175 mh (10K) and 2 x 160vho actinic. It is a sps dominated tank so I will need to be careful as I wouldn't want these to do damage to my other corals. I will probably need to thin these guys out soon as the rock they are groing on is covered all around and they apear to be growing on top of each other. Thanks again, Henry

Henry, you are welcome. Move them slowly over about 2 weeks. The best way to thin them is to get a small flat screwdriver and dig under them into the rock. You can then remove a small chip of the rock and glue it to another rock or ship them out the the guys in this forum. I am sure they will be interested in them.
Darren, Thank you for the confirmation. Bryan Last edited by Anemone; 06/08/2003 at 06:36 PM. |

I have three ricordia colonies under 250w HQI DE. I have an 18 gallon tank!! they look nice and plump, and they are getting big. Ricordias can handle alot of light that's for sure.

No doubt! I have some under 400 WMH and they can stand it just fine.
They look nice under Radiums! Of course, everything does... Darren Walker Last edited by Anemone; 06/08/2003 at 06:36 PM. |

Just a reminder folks - we don't sell anything on the main boards (or at least we try not to). To help with this, we also don't put "want to buy" type posts in the main forums either.
The appropriate place for hobbyist-to-hobbyist trades is here. And the appropriate place for hobbyist-to-hobbyist sales is here. Please keep in mind these forums are for non-commercial sales. I highly encourage anyone looking for specific items (live or otherwise) check out our sponsors (some of whom specialize in ricordeas). Kevin |

So I'm wondering, when you frag them, perferably just in half. How long does it usually take to attach?
