Blue-legged hermits

What's their role in the clean-up department? I have astrea snails right now, who are doing a good job of cleaning some brown algae off my rock. What do the hermits do?

Hermits are scanvengers and will it about anything. Just another variety of clean-up crew. A lot of poeple stay away from them because the will sometimes eat your snails for the shells. If you give them replacement shells you may not has much of a probelm.

I like them. They have a lot of personality.

Like said above, they will clean anything. Rock, the sand, fish carcases.

The blue legs do a pretty good job, but make sure your frags are pretty secure... mine does a hell of a job walking around knocking over frags that aren't cemented down. They are much more active than the red ones, but also more aggressive towards snails and such. I have one... a lot of personality but sometimes I just want to squish him
