It's nearly 2 now, I usually don't go to bed before 3, up at 8:30-9.

mrcrab,
Do you have any pics of how you plumbed your overflows and your filtration? You may have them on previous pages, I just may have missed them. And two, do you have any pics of the lighting? Thanks. I'm setting up a 225 and am looking for some ideas. I really like your overflow. It doesn't take room from inside your tank.

Don't seem to have any plumbing pics. I'll see if I can remember to snap some tomorrow, it's about as simple as it gets though, just like me! Still not happy with my lighting so no pics. I have everything here and it's time to change bulbs, just waiting for the weather to cool a bit so I can leave the garage door open as it will be an all day project.

What's going on with your reef Barry???

BTW, I am going to eat a very tasty animal tonight. A cute little lamb. Well, not so sure about cute, since I didn't see it alive, but one could assume that right? BAAA BAAAA BLAM!

LOL...I love lamb, especially roasted with rosemary, lemon and garlic. YUM! We did the bird thing, had all the kids, boyfriends and Grandma over. wasn't quite the same without the wife though...things ran smoothly.

Going to do a big garage clean out this weekend and get back to putting it together properly. Things are kind of crappy at the moment with the holidays on the way. Kerri just lost her Mum and is still in Australia and the RE market here SUCKS! Can't sell anything. Hard to make a buck when you can't get things sold.

Pretty much status quo with the reef at the moment. Last episode a couple of months ago I lost my CBB. I've added another in the past 2 weeks and a blue jaw trigger. Both are doing very well. I think I've finally licked the ick thing.

BTW, love the new avatar. I need to do something with mine...have to think about it. Your new pocci and the purple one are beautiful. We need to work out a cross country frag swap. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Unfortunately with my dino incident, I don't have many large colonies to frag out right now. It will be a while before my reef really gets back to full strength, but I am seeing good growth.

I'm waiting on new lights. I'll be changing things around in the next couple of weeks only my camera isn't doing too well. I'll post updates as I go along.

Barry,

I cracked up when I came across the post about the heaters. I've blown up a couple heaters as well. I realized pretty quickly that my heater was out of the water, so I immediately stopped pulling the water out and started putting the water back in. DUH! Stupid heater popped like a light bulb. Won't do that again.

Yeah, it would have been funny if I was in the garage and caught it straight away only I walked out. My son went in there a bit later and the garage was full of smoke! Not to mention the large crack in the sump.

I'm a bit disappointed tonight. When the wwd's were coming out I sent all 4 of my vortechs in to be overhauled and serviced so that they'd be like new with the new controllers. I did this as I was having issues with the ones on the back of the tank holding on and they were early run pumps so I thought...get r done and I won't have to worry about it. If my memory serves me I spent about $250 for the overhaul for all 4 pumps.

2 pumps have been operational on the sides of the tank and have been performing well. The glass is 1/2" on the sides. I did notice that in reef mode one of the pumps semed to be running hotter than it should. At first I thought that I might be checking it when it was ramped up all the time as they are in anti-sync but it kept feeling hot so I switched the master slave around and it seems to be much better now.

I've been messing with the tank a couple hours a day over the last few days as it needed some quality time and I'm getting ready to replace all the lights and rerig my light system so I wanted everything done before the lights get here Wednesday.

Started scraping coraline off all the glass panes, I've taken pane maintenance lessons from jnarowe, and moving the side vortechs yesterday and changing them over to reefmode. I moved them up a bit, one to the front and the other to the back of the tank and that is going well.

Tonight I scraped the back panel which is 11/16 total thickness as it's 1/2" glass with black acrylic over it. Started setting up one of the vortechs and it doesn't seem to be holding very well. Get it all lined up, plug it in and it falls off. No big deal maybe it wasn't aligned right as I can't see through the back and have to do it by feel.

I noticed with the new drivers the pump doesn't shut off automatically when it gets disconnected. Not only this one but one of the side ones I did yesterday...curious and a concern. Anyone else notice this?

So I get the better half to come out and plug the power in once I get them aligned so I can hold them together and adjust them after it starts. Lined up, start, every time I loosen my grip it starts to slide down. Changed wet sides. same thing only not as bad. Seems to be holding and I start adjusting the flow up and down to get it where I want. I noticed the dry side sliding down again.

Didn't bother trying to hook up the other one. It's late, I'm tired and frustrated. I'll give it a go tomorrow and let you know how things turn out.
