Snails Breeding?
3 of my snails. (not sure what they are, I think some type of Nerite) were climbing all over each other and letting out little puffs that looked like smoke in the water. Are they breeding?

I'm not sure because I asked for Astrea snails when I bought them, but they don't look anything like my other Astrea snails (don't have a beige cone-like shell)
They might be Margarita Snails, but I don't know if they have the silver spirals that my first Margarita snail had (could be because they are covered in algae). They look a lot like the Olive Nerite snails I have in my brackish tank. Last edited by jvdb; 10/29/2007 at 02:07 AM. |

Puffs of smoke woud be a spawning event.
Without a picture, its hard to tell what type of snail you have. You can look for a picture of it here http://melevsreef.com/id/snails.html Best of luck, Roy |
