Is my clam dead?

So I bought a clam a few weeks ago, yesterday i woke it was tipped over and my three shrimp were going at his meaty underside. I haven't noticed much if any movement out of him the last day, did they possibly kill it?

Judging from what you said, it sounds like he did kick the bucket, now the shrimps have picked up the dying scent and are feasting upon him.

The underside of a clam is its most sensitive area and prone to attack. If when you set the clam back upright, the mantle does not extend or come out of the shell for a day or two, it may be a gonner. If the mantle is recessed and kind of shrivled inside and the clam does not close it's shell (called gaping) it is also dying,

Hope it gets better.....

Also.... small clams have a much higher mortality rate in tanks than do larger ones. I stay away from clams that are less than 3" in length at the very smallest.

FWIW
