Looks amazing! I'm still trying to fill my tank. About to try and see if Wal-mart has water back in stock again.

Nope,
All RO/DI water. Took about a week of planning to store up enough water in advance for the big fill, but only took about 45 min with three mambas running.

If you guys need RO/DI I will be happy to trade some for a frag or two. I have 150 gallons of fresh, and another 150 gallons of mixed ready to go at all times, and about 10, 5 gallon buckets in the basement. Let me know!!

Very nice Russell.

I'll bet you are glad the cabinetry is up at last. No more blue room!! I like the natural wood grain. that looks great. Are you going to do a bit more trim where the hood meets the wall to block that sliver of light reflecting out on the wall? or perhaps a hinged or removable section to cover the back side of the overflow and dursos so just the tank section is visable? I know you want to be able to see back there to check for fish and things that slip through the overflow.

how is the tank cycling? With the large volume of water in the system I guess it might proceed more slowly. The sand bed and rock islands look great!! Plenty of room for the corals to grow into and get very large without crowding. that's good.

Nice Job Russ! That's one heck of a nice room divider. Is it miller time yet? or still more to do?

Thanks guys,
Yes, I do have a little trim work yet to do on the wall side to finish that end, and am debating on whether to cover the overflow or not, but things are definately better now that the lights are shaded.
Trying to get the moonlights and VHO's up next.

And of course some more fish.

The tank never really "cycled" as there is no nitrate or nitrate detectable, and no ammonia.

Wow! I just saw the tank in person and it is even more impressive when your standing in front of it. The pictures just don't do it justice. Thanks a lot for showing me around Russ and for the water. I owe ya one.

I did not clean the other side of the glass, sorry, but you get the idea. Yes D+L the floor was reinforced, I think you saw it downstairs when you were here. There are pictures earlier in the post FYI.

No real problems knock on wood. I do have a little macroalge growing, but nothing major. The triggers did not fair as well as I thought and I just lost the little copperband today that had survived for 6+ months without feeding, only grazing, but other than that not too bad. (if you count $500 worth of triggers down the drain not that bad). Open to questions or specific picture requests.

THe pruple and green table acro is growing like a weed and is avail for frag trading if anyone is interested.

let me know.

What all are you using for circulation?
Are you running phosban?
Are you using a calcium reactor or dosing pump to keep up with the Calcium and Alk needs?

Tank looks sweet sorry to hear about your triggers pair.

I have a Sequence hammerhead in the basement and 4 Tunze on a controller which have worked flawlessly.

I use MRC Calcium reactor and have a Kalk reactor that I have not used as of yet.

I use Phosban and carbon because of my softies.

THe only problem that I forgot to mention is the Killer nudibrachs that continue to wreak havoc on my montipora cap.

what do you use to get the corals to just stick to the rocks like that? iv tried the reef putty crap it once dry holds but getting it to hold the coral to rock is ridiculously difficult

Lol nice one Ken.

Russ the tanks looks awesome as I expected. Last time I was over it seemed like you knew what you were doing. Do the fish get in the way a lot when your trying to take pictures? I used to have a bunch that always thought I was going to feed them so they were right there in front of the camera. Sorry to hear about the Triggers.

When I get back from the Caribbean and get my qt tank set up I might have to talk with you about some frags.

Shnabbles,

I have some 1/4" acrylic rods that I stick on the base with superglue in a slow flow area while the glue dries about 20 min or so, and then can wedge it in a hole or crack. I drilled small holes in the liverock when I was setting up the tank so that I can have some at weird angles with the SPS and hanging off the LR. Also it makes moving pieces very easy, unless the base encrusts onto the LR.

Yes, the fish are always hungry and interested in any people walking nearby looking for snacks.

Merry Christmas to you all

RUSS
