it's almost like a macro algae and eats up excess nutriants (i can't spell) that could fuel algae blooms.

yeah it's cryno (aka red slime) you really should test your prams (nitrates, nitrites and ammonia) Red slime basically tells you there is something wrong with you water also increasing your waterflow should help. What kind of waterflow do you have?

the coraline is good....but the red stuff growing on teh sand is red slime algae......it is NOT GOOD......you probably need more flow......or your nitates or phosphates are too high.....or it could be your light spectrum too

I'm waiting on (2) Seio 820 to come today or tomorrow, but right now, All I have is a ZooMed Pump that does 270gph, I assuming I'm getting this cyano because of that, My water test the other night were all good,

8.2 ph
0ppm nitrites
0ppm nitrates
0ppm ammonia

Salinty 1.025

Temp 77-79

I'm going to buy a phosphates test today at the LFS and see if thats a problem, if it is what is a good way to lower it or get rid of it...

it sounds like you don't have enough flow. In my 25 gal i have a 250GPH power head, 2 HOB filers adding 250GPH and my return pump from my sump thats doing about 200GPH and i don't that thats enough i want to upgrade my sump to about 500-600GPH So yeah you don't have enough

the best thing to do untill you get your new powerheads is use a turkey baster to suck out the red slime, that way it wont get out of control. I have some growing in my refugoium, but thats ok, in the main tank it's a nightmare.

I agree with cutie ....everything points to a flow problem.......of note.....i have read that with the red slime your nitrates can read 0 because the red algae blocks it in the water column and uses it for itself.......which makes your test have a false negative reading.....

I know I don't have enough, I'm waiting for my two Seio 820's to come in that will give me 1640gph with the both of them and my emporer 400 HOB does 400gph so Then I will think I will have enough flow. So its mainly a flow problem right now... right amber???

Should I go to the LFS and buy a phosphate test kit, and see if thats also a problem, & if it is then whats a good way to fix that problem???

How old are the bulbs in your lighting ???? That can also do it if they are old and emit the wrong spectrum of light

I'm going to the LFS to get a phostphate test kit, I do have these extra plastic things that slide in behind the carbon filters, You can put any kind of media in their, but I think a media bag maybe 300 micro will do me better to add phos guard or seachem to the tank, right ??? cause the plastic inserts have alittle to big of holes in them to put this type of media in their, hence the media bags would be better... ???

My lighting I think is about 6-8 months, cause I did buy the light I have now from a RC member, so the age of the bulbs is not exact. But I'm going to head to the LFS right now for that stuff before they close will be back soon with the results of my phostphate test kit, too see If I need to do something about that.
