Unhappy Whine, whine, whine....

Okay all, I don't usually do this, but I just need to feel sorry for myself for awhile. I lost my Australian Shepherd, Timber this past November. She was my girl, and she made me adore the breed. Problem is I want a new aussie puppy in the WORST way. I miss that wiggle butt and aussie grin around the house. They have a way of filling a room with their presence even if they are sleeping. Problem is, my husband doesn't want a 3rd dog. I understood and agreed with him when we thought we would be buying a house in the next year but plans have changed and we will be here for minimum-1 more year, more like 2. Warm weather is here, now is a great time for training a new puppy. My human girls are old enough to know how to behave around a pup.
I WANT A PUPPY!!! (Insert foot stomping here....) My husband thinks I don't spend enough time with the two dogs we have, however due to his work he is gone 10+ hours a day. I may not be actively doing things with the dogs, but they are here and with me getting attention etc during the day. Cost isn't really an issue since I've figured I can get a fence (underground), dog, and medical (shots, neuter) for about $1200. (And yes, this is a reputable breeder, this is me remember?!?! Dog nazi-lady.... )
How do I convince my husband to add a third dog? ARRRRRGH.....
signed,
Frustrated and overly tired from looking at puppy pics in NY....

Maybe not me, but eventually he'd trip over one of the two small children that I'd be bringing. Then we'd have some 'splainin' to do!!

gee em, i have the opposite problem. mr. nina lets me do whatever i want. when i lost my old mare, i said i wanted a llama. he says "whatever you want honey." so i got two llamas.

when we lost our old dog i said i wanted another corgi to go with the corgi i already have. he said "whatever you want honey." so we got simon and now i have two lollipop kids.

i told him when we got together 9 years ago that eventually i would have a harlequin great dane. he keeps saying "whatever you want honey." some day when i retire, i'll have that dane.

you want me to just get an aussie pup and keep it here for you? i'll just tell mr. nina that my friend wants a puppy and he'll say "whatever you want honey."

Nina-could you do that? Then ship it here from "Anonymous". 'course the poor guy would be dizzy from his trip since the breeder is only 1.5 hours away. Scrap that idea, just have Mr. Nina call Mr. Emilye and straighten him out will ya?!

P.S. Have a good trip!!

As I often tell my boss.

"Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness that beg for permission."

Go get ummm! Husbands are a dime a dozen now a days... I wouldn't trade my aussie in for anybody... Best yard gaurd out there they are. A good friend lost her Aussie male and then a female late last year. Not a good time.

Well good luck and just tell him that the kids wanted the new pup!

i think i'm going to sit him down tonight and lay it on the line. I don't 'beg' for much. (I do ask for a lot of things however.... ) We'll have to come up with some sort of arrangement that he gets something out of the deal too though....too bad he doesn't like tanks.....

i plan to unabashedly use heaps of guilt. Lots of it. Mounds. And also be prepared for some pretty huge stipulations. There isn't much he can say, I take care of all the animals in this house. I walk them, feed them, train them, care for them. He buys the food that's about it. I really really want one he really really doesn't. If I need too I may get dirty and break out the tears. Actually that will probably happen anyway since I can't seem to have an intense conversation without them. (Drives me nuts to tell the truth, although it's occasionally helpful )

I've been pouting all evening--so far he hasn't paid any attention or is totally ignoring it. Tears may come eventually--but I hate to do that. First, I will lay on the guilt about how much I miss Cuddles (my avatar kitty) and how she was mine and the other pets are the boys. My girlfriend's daughter, who has Steve wrapped around here finger, was begging him last night to let me get one. May have to have her over more often!

Good luck Emily!

It'll be one of these guys. A male, hopefully one of the Merles but at this point I don't care!
