Puerto Rico Corals?

Two Q's hope you guys can help. Posted this on my local forum, but maybe I can have a better shot here. Puerto Rico trip is not till' spring break

1. Will it be illegal to bring corals from there? In the case of there being corals of coarse.

2. By any chance will you happen to know of something rare that may come on that side of the ocean?

If its illegal I'd rather not try and mess with things... TIA

Yes, it'll be illegal to bring back any stony corals from there, as well as live rock.

I was just there a week ago. There are a lot of corals, however, I would not recommend bringing them back to the states. How would you bring them back..on the plane? I just think that the chance of survival would be slim no matter what your method.

It's true. It is illegal to remove Corals or live rock from PR. Anyway if you do Snorkling or Diving and want to enjoy seeing beautiful corals.I would recommend you to go to Vieques and Culebras Island its really beautiful there.

Sorry guys, but as stated b4 by Gresham and Lina it is illegal to collect hard corals and LR here in PR, even if you find them on the beach.

Where are you planning on going when you come over? If you need any pointers or need any help just let me know and I'll be more than happy to try and help. Vieques and Culebra are really nice to dive and snorkle as are the west and southwest area of the island, so I hope you enjoy your visit here.

i was there this summer... looking at how many cruise ships leave from there - there wouldn't be a reef if people brought stuff back - and some of the tourism industry would collapse for lack of corals/fish to look at.
