joaquin1119,
[welcome]

It can be done a number of ways. Smaller once a week changes are sometimes a more stable way of doing water changes than say once a month larger changes. I just don't have the time to do them once a week, so it's once a month for me.

I think it really depends on your setup and what works for you, I do once a week small 10% water changes.

I have a friend who almost never does water changes... somehow his tank is still great...

It really all depends on amount of livestock, what type of livestock, what type of corals, how big the tank is and what kind of filtration you have going.

I do mine one every two weeks. That works best for me. Or like konadog said a larger water change once a month. What ever works for you. Just make sure you do it. Tends to keep problems away down the road.

If you are setting up a fish only with fake decorations, you'll probably want to change the water at least once a month. I would do it everytime the corals looked brown. I would also keep a second set of decorations and change them out when I did the water changes. Then you can put the other decorations in the sun, and they will look new again.

No matter how often you change out the water, don't forget to add freshwater to make up what evaporates out!

only H2o changes ive ever done was when accidents in tank happen. i have 6 tanks sometimes i get confused with 4 kids and 2 adults in house. i write down all parms for ea. tank. every Sunday i do test and additives and salt if needed. SG hardly moves. add daily fresh H2o from reserve tank. heated, wood defuser, and 99% covered w/DIY acrylic plate 3/16"
