concerning storage of AZ-NO3, should it be refrigerated when opened? There is no information on the bottle, but I saw an advertisement in the marine depot cat. stating that it should be refrigerated?
Thanks!

If you plan to store an opened bottle for a while, then yes. However, during the dosing period I just kept the bottle in my tank room that stays in the mid 70s. It says on the bottle "Store at 45 to 77 degrees". (In this picture, bottle on the left, on the label near the bottom right)

I'd think it would be more of a factor if it were the other way around. Drops should be "dripped" holding the dropper vertical, otherwise you get surface tension on the side of the dropper and drip a greater volume than a drop.

There is no dropper. The cap has a pop up section with a hole in it. Inverting the bottle is how I used it, counting the drops.

I believe I did three water changes during the 60 days I treated the tank. Nitrates are currently around 15ppm, down 75% from what they were.

So they did go up a little, but not nearly what they were. And I suppose if I really wanted to, I could repeat the treatment a second time at the normal recommended rate of dosing without fearing the consequences, now that the nitrates are at a much lower level.

However, at this point I'm thinking about a DIY denitrifier that I read about in Reef Discussion.

I do not use mechanical filtration. DSB, Refugium, Skimmer, LR - that's my filtration.

Alex, they were up for a long time without my realizing it. As I mentioned earlier, I was reading my test kit incorrectly. I feed heavily, which I think is the main problem. I love my reeflings and feed them accordingly.

do you know any side effects from dosing a small amount of AZ-NO3 daily to keep your trates low? I've been doing that for a year & a half, and I have not noticed anything bad.......only good. kinda like the sugar, vodka method?

I'm not aware of any side effects. This was my first time to use this product.

before I went and did the whole denitrifier thing, I figured after AZ-NO3 worked for me so good initially, I'd give it a shot to maintain those low nitrates. I dose about 10 to 15 ml per day. I've gone as low as 5ml to 20ml max. I always dose gradually up or down, however, from day to day if I need to adjust. Sulfur just doesn't sound like it's a pleasant odor. What do ya think?
