Tap Water Filter

I have high levels of silicate in my tap water ( 8mg/l) and I need to remove it . So I want to know if I could get a simple tap water filter made by Aquarium Pharm. to remove it

Only use tap water if you use a RO/DI unit or atleast a RO unit.
Tap water if not filtered properly can and will cause many differant problems and you may not see the affects untill its to late.
There are many differant problems you may see only the way, and being able to elimate the water quality will really help.

Silica is suppose to be one of the first things that get through an RO system so I suspect on the inexpensive AP system may not be appropriate or cost effective. Note - I know very little about the AP system so take this info in context.

The AP TWP is a mixed bed DI. If you run typical tap water through it (or any DI) without first removing 98% of the contaminants with RO, then it will not last very long. In that respect, the TWP isn't economical. You're much better off investing in a good RO/DI system.

With typical tap water a Tap Water Filter can be exhausted in as little as 30 gallons. If you have high silicates as you say it won't even last that long. With just a few cartridge changes you will have as much invested as if you had bought a good RO/DI system. Get the RO/DI system.
