There is some info in
Thresher RE. (1984) Reproduction in reef fishes TFH.

I have heard of someone with spawning clown triggers too, but the larvae were small and no one ever has produced any juveniles of that pair (2 tried) so they must have been real small.

From what i can gather you need space to allow the male to have his territory where he constructs the nest in the sand, then a female about just for the maiting ritual.

I would be guessing 6-10ft square base with a few feet water depth for a spawning rise but not much.

i would try a water storage tank cut in half.

actually Al theil was able to get clown triggers to breed about 15 yrs back. Problem is these fish have large territoires and multiple females. He had to build a huge 20ft by 20ft X4ft box, bottom had sand. IIRC the male dug pits and enticed the females to drop eggs and he went onto the next female. Not sure if he ever got any fry out of it.

ive been reading and found that to make anything remotely possible ill need a huge tank, not necessarily more than 2 feet tall, but itll have to be at least 10 feet in length and width since any species has such a huge territory. im not quite sure how ill ever pull it off but what the hell... if you have more info out there anything would help thanks

use a sw pond
once you go there 10x10 is easy, and its really not that expensive

its probibly the only way its gona work depending on space available you might consider a 5' X 15 or 20' long 5' is easier to maintain. IF they will go for that, might wanna see

I know Dick Perrin had a male and 2 females in one of his large coral holding tanks. Do not know if they were spawning for him or not.

Get one of those pond kits, I had one with sharks it was 20x20x30 made of wood and a liner, I paid like $400 for all the materials. But the salt... ouch!

I've seen paired Nigers that spawn too, but no fry were reared that I know of. (one sex was darker then the other don't recall which was which)
