PFO LED Lighting questions

Anyone know anything about these PFO Solaris LED hoods? Linky here

Note my details, I'm a beginner to this hobby and I'm currently about 5 hours from filling the tank for the first time. The more I read, the more I want to try my hand at SPS after the tank has been established for quite some time. My husband, the big kid, wants to buy these lights as soon as we've cycled our water. First, we're not exactly made of money. Second, we're beginners!!!

Suppose I had 2k lying around collecting dust (ha!), is it worth buying these things and bypassing a more typical T5/HO setup? Is the savings of electrical use worth this price? Convince me I'm wrong and I should rush right out and order these tonight (geez I hope I'm not wrong).

Thanks for your time!!

Wow, some of the reviews I've found online are not real stellar. Odd customer service, blown strips, funky solder and bad color. Any different experiences?

My .2.... Read read read research...then read some more lol. Make sure you read more than just web opinions. There are some great books out there.

Before you buy anything figure out what your goals are. What fish do you want? What coral? Lighting demands for the coral. Can you keep the two together...etc (coral/fish or coral/coral not all are compatible) Lighting and filtration are going to be two of your biggest expenses and everyone has their own opinion on what works best.

Before you spend try to hook up with someone with a local club and see the fixture in action. LED tech is changing rapidly and its time is coming. They are a fantastic looking fixture with a lot of bells and whistles but they are very expensive and may not provide enough PAR for SPS (yet, jmo). The bottom line is will it be the best fit for your new "kids". It's very easy to spend a lot of money quickly in this hobby for the coolest toys. Take your time. Patience pays off.
