Nice setup Keith!!!!

I have been wondering what kind of fish the big players like. I have a little trigger in my predator tank he is only half the size of my lion fish but an agresive little fish. They have lived together for a year now. I never knew any of the species were reef safe.

I almost forgot.. I love the trim your accessible trim. You mentioned you got it from Servo. Can you tanke some pics of that and give me a little better understanding. I have put a bunch of trim in my house with crown molding and wanted to do some of it by the tank. I just could not figure a way to let me have it look nice and access it from the front. That is the coolest sleek design and I would like to steel it from you now.

Thanks for sharing

Eric

First a full tank shot for fun then a few of my fish

I promise a more meaningful update soon. Tank is doing well and little to no changes

OK on the trim

An updated pic of the whole wall

Side view with the top open, you can see the hinge holding it on the far end. The gap from tank top to wall is 10"

The weather stripping just to seal and make it silent

Here is the top with the hinge

The "notch" that allows it to look seemless.

Same shot but closed

Hmmm...a 450g SPS tank and no coral shots? What's up with that?

Where is the Blue Throat pair? Did you decide to not add them?

Blue throats are there I just can't get a good shot of them! They are always moving fast!

If you look in that second pic above (with the lid up) you can see a little streak of light in the middle of the tank and one of them is in that! I think it's the female. Also in the full tank shot if you look at the arch in the middle of the tank and look on the right side near the bottom rock you can see half of the male streaking behind that rock toward the left.

I'll work on some better pics but they just don't stay still!!!

Ok see when I post it curses me! everything has been going great and usually I have to clean the glass literally like once every 2 weeks. Well I cleaned it Sunday and then noticed that tonight it was getting dirty again. Interesting, looking closer there was hints of algea on the starboard which has never happened before! I've stayed on a normal water change schedule and everything so time to check the RODI.

Ah ha. For some background our TDS here is really low straight out of the tap (like 40 or less) so even with as much water as I go through the DI lasts several months. The makeup of that 40 though is bad. phosphates are off the chart in the tap water so i'm pretty dilligent staying on top of it. Sure enough my outgoing TDS was like 13. 2 things bothered me about this one being that with a 40 input my RO should be reducing it to single digits and 2 my DI wore out so fast. So I changed the DI and the output is back down to 0 or 1 but the input to the DI (after the RO) is in the upper 20s which means the RO is not working well. The prefilters look fine so I'll have to open it up tommorow and see if I see anything. I may be in for replacing the membranes after only 14 months or so. Given the amount of water this wouldn't be shocking but it will suck because it will cost me ~$200 since I have the Merlin!

couple things to note, firsty you pics are great. second, I am advised to swap out membranes every 9 - 12 months.

Tell me(us) about the Merlin. I have considered it but have been advised to not use it. I too have fairly low incoming TDS at 82 but with the same phosphate/nitrate issues. I never let my outgoing TDS to rize above 1 ppm. It seesms to me that the Merlin would be a good fit for my needs. Any comments?

Jonathan I love the Merlin personally. I haven't had a bit of problem with it in over a year this is my first "issue". It produces 500GPD easy which is great and lets me quicly do significant water changes, etc. Why were you advised against one???

I guess primarily because of the low rejection rate. In theory this would burn through more resin, and witgh a better membrane, I could even get away with no resin.

Keith, your corals look beautiful. Thanks for the pictures. Are those taken with the Fuji, or did you buy a new camera?

wineman,

[welcome]

I remember this build from a while back and thought it had such great potential to be a fantastic display.

Well, you have really maxed it's potential! everything looks great! Really like the trim. Do you have a FTS shot from back in the room? I remember there being a lot of trim work around the entire room that should make the display really blend in nicely.

Great job!!!

Marc. I got a Rebel XTI a few months ago! Still have the Fuji (I need to sell it) but I love DSLR. Just awesome.

Kevin no issues with the Angels. The tank is big enough they pretty much don't pay attention to each other. I only have 2 aggresion "issues" and I use the term loosely because they aren't problems at all. At feeding time the Regal tends to not like the copperband! The sailfin also doesn't like the powder blue right after the nori hits the clip. Neither of these are big issues with litteraly just a one move "chase" then the other one swims off. No biggie but the Regal total ignores the flame angel.

Bax here is a pic of the room as of last week
