Question Red or green

Should the liquid in the skimmer colletor be green or red(maroon)?

Its normally a really dark green-brown color. If its light green, means your probably skimming too wet. Is yours red? Never seen that before, have and cyno algea that could be getting sucked up the skimmer?

are you using GFO like RowaPhos or other phosphate absorbing media or pads? Is your tank water discolored in any way?
