HD sand

I have read that the silica based sand from HD is fine for our tanks. I am looking at mixing a bag of LS from the LFS and the HD sand to get a RS Max started. What should I be asking for at HD?

Thanks

lj

Any sand that's clean silica and of a reasonable grain size will work. If you want to have a live DSB, you'll need a very fine grain of sand, though.

Thanks, I have some in there for a couple of days but every time I try to aquascape it immediately becomes so cloudy I can't see anything. Could it be too fine? It came from a sump. Is the play sand too course for a good LSB?

Most play sand is too coarse for a live sand bed, in my opinion. I don't think any sand product I've seen is too fine, but there might be one somewhere. This thread might help:
