Mine is huge like that also, thing just keeps getting bigger and bigger. So you just hack it to frag it? Seems simple enough

How do you cut that thing with a hack saw and were? I have never fragged anything but this would seem to be difficult unlike corals with stalks or branches its one big juicy tissue right?

....The toadstool is budding at the bottom; what i meant was I could cut the rock a little near the place where they are budding also cutting the small toadstools from the mother colony with a hack saw.

The only secret I have is no secret a ro unit and good salt mixes, salinity 0.25,alternating direct flow.

Just thought I would share. This is a pic of my small one. I have a larger one that is 12" in diameter at the head.

An unhappy toadstool most likely. My toadstool looked like that when I first got it, and over the weeks grew it's little polyps. It doesn't look like the above, but it has similar polyps throughout the whole thing. I'd get a picture, but the tank lights aren't on yet.

Toadstool?

What does this one look like? A toadstool, a massage chair, or a polyp buffet?

It looks like a toadstool that took on a funny growth. Probably the result of when it was cut and mounted.

I am going to jump in here too. I am looking for help. My toadstool is similar to the first on except the stalk is about 10 inches tall and about 2 inches in diameter. The head is huge. How do I frag this thing??? I have heard you can cut around the head so you have a ring and then cut that into pieces. what about the stalk, can I just cut straight through it?? This thing wont stop growing.

I have a Sarcophyton that's about 12" in diameter, hate to think how big it would be if I hadn't trimmed it. I just take cuts around the outside, basically making the diameter smaller. The ring cut off is divided into smaler pieces to grow out. Doesn't affect the larger coral much at all. Just be careful about taking too much at once, mostly because all the pieces produce lots of mucous which can foul your prop tank (experience talking)
