110Gal F/O and 30Gal Reef sharing Water / Filtration
Ok i have a 110 fish only and a 30 reef i was thinking of having them both flow into the same sump and using one skimmer for both tanks. Will this work? If not why and what should i be looking out for if i try this?
I plan on using a rubbermaid bioball setup with a decent skimmer or Dsb fuge with filter socks and a skimmer. |

Biggest problem you will run into is nitrates from the fish in the F/O tank.
I did this a couple of years back with a 120 Gallon F/O and a 55 Gallon Reef. It never did well. I then went to a 125 Gallon Reef and 240 Gallon F/O seperated with much better results and everyone happy. I know it will cost you a little more, but its worth in the long run. At least that is my opinion.

Oh, and avoid BioBalls.
I recommend the DSB with skimmer.
