Mushroom Anemone Question. (please respond)
Hey I've never been in this part of RC and i had a question. I just bought a Mushroom anemone and cant get him to sit still, his little sexy shrimps love him, but theres a problem. I know when putting an anemone in a new tank they float till they find a place to settle, so how can he settle if hes curled up and covering up his suction disk? do i set him in a little nook in a rock? (thats where he is now) and will he unfold himself and suck on?

no i dont have a camera :\
think of it as a mushroom coral or polyp, its flat and has a small base, green, bubble (studdid) tips. But hes foldd over from being transported in a bag and touched so much.

they call ricordia "mushroom anemones" at the local pet stores... I wouldn't be suprised if that's what it is.

well it doesnt look like a ricordia, maybe ut if so its a very small ricordia, about 2" diameter. Either way i built a little floating container in the aquarium with holes, i set some rocks under it in hopes he will attach to one so i can then move him onto one of the larger LRs.
It does have somewhat of a neon look to it, but there were others that he called "Ricordia" and i know one when i see it, ill upload a pic of it ina few (friends camera) Thanks guys!

it sounds like a large hair mushroom to me. unless its inflating itself and floating around. but i would set him in a crevice with good light and little flow and see what he does.

yeah i think thats what it is, i did set him in a crevice, he gets light and is doing good. But is there any certain technique to get ricordia to settle in? because i build a floating container with holes in it to try and get him to suck onto a rock in there but he didn't so i just set him in the crevice...
but ive seen "Ricordia Farms" and they seem to be fine, maybe the guy turned off the powerheads...

I just wedge loose mushrooms/rics into holes in the rockwork - they typically attach very quickly, leaving the foot in the hole and extending their cap along the surface of the rock.

You can try placing it against a rock and gently wrapping directly over it with some cheesecloth, tulle, or bridal veil material to prevent it from moving until it attaches.

Looks like a ricordia or yuma.

It's hard to tell from the pic. It's not a hairy mushroom though. Can you get a clearer pic?
Also yumas are ricordea. Why does everyone think it's ricordea and yuma? It's Ricordea floridia and Ricordea yuma... |

I thought that yumas have the small bumps all around the mouth, I have rics and yumas .Rics don't have the bumps around the mouth, and my yumas are about 6'' across and rics maybe about 2 to3'' across.
