Jim you nailed the focus very nicely on this one.
Can you please share which lens and which aperture you used? I'm guessing 1.4?

I understand guessing a 1.4 aperature. This fish is pretty big - 8" so to get that close on him required a macro lens(Canon 100mm) and I actually shot it at f4. I tried some shots at f2.8 but did not get enough in focus. I like the the scale detail on the forehead of the fish. Shooting moving fish at f1.4 or f1.8 is tricky unless you are far back and can crop. This photo was full frame - not cropped at all. Glad you enjoyed the photo
